Below is a testimonial from a student who is currently studying at Griffith University, Master of Teaching program:

“Moving to Australia has been the best decision of my life so far. I’d never really dreamed I could travel across the world, away from my family and friends but I did it! KOM made the process so easy, too. They answered all my questions and continually reassured me that I would fall in love with Australia (and maybe never want to leave). Through group flights and a list of Canadian students in my program provided by KOM, I was able to find an initial group of people to fly with to Australia which allowed me to have a support network and a new group of friends to get settled with. The first few days here were a whirlwind of trying to find a place to stay, grocery stores, banks, and, of course, the beach. Although it was hectic, it was an adventure that I wouldn’t have passed up and it was an experience that enabled me to make good friends pretty quickly.

I’m living in a student complex off-campus with two Canadians who were on my flight. The complex I’m staying at has allowed me to meet some absolutely incredible people from all over the world, including many Australians and a number of Canadians. With a little help from the locals, we’ve been able to visit gorgeous beaches, hike stunning mountains, and see some pretty incredible creatures and animals. Here on the Gold Coast, the sun is always shining and the people are always smiling; it’s truly paradise. Although I’ve only been here for 3 months so far, I’m already willing time to go slower so that I can stay just a little bit longer!

I’m attending Griffith University for the Masters of Teaching program and it has been a wonderful experience so far. The professors in the program are so friendly and willing to help with anything. The education and hands-on experiences I’ve received so far have already helped me in my first few days of teaching practicum.

If you asked me what my 5 favourite things about Australia are, I’d tell you:

  • THE PEOPLE! The Australians are amazing people.
  • Learning the slang
  • “Tim Tams” and “Shapes”!
  • Burleigh Beach
  • The plethora of music festivals

I’d never have experienced any of these things if it weren’t for KOM’s help and encouragement in getting here. I’d recommend their services to anyone. Thanks KOM!”
