The 2021 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has ranked Griffith University in the 201-300 band for the first time, a significant shift upwards for the South East Queensland based institution, after eight years in the top 400 band.

Griffith University has performed strongly in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021, improving in eight of the 13 indicators and consolidating its position in the 201-250 band for a second year in a row.

Deakin has improved its position in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, climbing inside the top 350. The 2020 rankings,  reveal Deakin improved one band to 301-350, up from 351-400 in 2019.

The THE index ranks universities across five performance indicators: teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research) and industry income (knowledge transfer).

Deakin University has won three prestigious AFR Higher Education Awards including anthropologist Professor Emma Kowal being jointly named Emerging Leader with Dr Christian Moro from Bond University.

The 2019 Australian Financial Review (AFR) Higher Education Awards were held on Tuesday 27 August, in Brisbane.
