New Times Higher Education subject rankings have confirmed La Trobe University is a world leader in health teaching and research.

La Trobe University's Big Jump In World Subject RankingLa Trobe University has jumped 72 places to 243 in the subject category of Clinical, Preclinical and Health, which includes dentistry and allied health.

The University is now in the 201-250 band, up from the 301-400 band last year.

La Trobe Pro Vice-Chancellor for Science, Health and Engineering Professor Robert Pike said it was an excellent result.

“Health teaching and research are among our core strengths at La Trobe and continue to attract global recognition,” Professor Pike said.

“Not only have we climbed up in the world ranking in this category, but we have also jumped five spots nationally and we are now ranked third in Victoria.”

Psychology (236) and Life Sciences (224) at La Trobe have also ranked in the top 250 in the latest subjects rankings, also putting them in the Victorian top three.

Earlier this year, Arts and Humanities at La Trobe cemented its place in the top 200 of the Times Higher Education world subject rankings, while Business and Economics achieved a top 300 ranking.

La Trobe also achieved its highest overall position this decade in the 2019 Times Higher Education World Rankings. The University moved up to be placed 341 in the world.

The University ranks in the top 400 universities worldwide by the major independent rankings agencies – 317th in the ARWU global rankings and 397th in the QS World University Rankings.
