Launching in 2014, Macquarie Law School in Australia will commence the Juris Doctor law program.  It is a postgraduate qualification in law that will prepare you for a range of legal professions in Australia and globally. 

Macquarie University began in 1964 in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde. Over 35,000 students were enrolled in 2003, with approximately 6,000 of these as international students from more than 80 countries.

The Juris Doctor (JD) program continues the School’s tradition of providing interdisciplinary perspectives on the study of law. You will not only know what the law is, but also discover its origins, assess its effectiveness and consider the need for reform.

Entry requirements

• Australian Bachelor degree or recognised equivalent• Minimum English Language Proficiency: IELTS or IELTS equivalent of 7.0 overall, with minimum 6.5 in each band

All applicants for undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed:

  • senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC
  • one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification
