In honour of  National Speech & Hearing Awareness month, KOM highlights Macquarie University and the Master of Speech and Language Pathology program.
Macquarie is just one of six Australian universities that offer Australian Speech Pathology programs in Australia.

The Master of Speech and Language Pathology program at Macquarie Univerity starts in February and is two years in length.  The applicatoin deadline for the February 2014 intake is October31st. 

This degree prepares you for the profession of speech pathology and enables you to work clinically with individuals with developmental or acquired communication disorders. It builds on fundamental knowledge from linguistics, psychology, anatomy and physiology. The comprehensive supervised clinical placements develop skills in assessment, intervention, service delivery and other aspects of professional practice.

  • Provides both a specialist and a multidisciplinary holistic approach to language and communication
  • Offers an extensive clinical practicum experience, ensuring that you have maximum exposure to individuals demonstrating the full range of communication impairments
  • Covers a range of topics including intercultural communication, neuroanatomy, psycholinguistics and aphasia
  • You will have access to the Macquarie University Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Suitable for

Suitable if you are interested in assisting adults and children with communication and swallowing problems, and hold a qualification in speech and hearing sciences. It is also suitable if you are looking to change career, however you must first complete a Graduate Diploma of Speech and Communication.

Entry requirements

• Australian Bachelor degree or recognised equivalent in speech and hearing sciences
• Minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00
• 2 page Personal Statement
• Minimum English Language Proficiency: IELTS or IELTS equivalent of 7.0 overall, with minimum 7.0 in each band
