Robert Gordon University ranked as a top UK university for graduate employabilityThe latest statistics from the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey show that RGU has a top employment record, with 96.5% of its graduates in work or further study six months after leaving university.

RGU is ranked 6th in the UK out of 151 universities in the data pool for the Higher Education Statistics Agency survey, which measured the proportion of UK-domiciled full-time first degree leavers in work or further study six months after finishing their course.

The DLHE survey aims to establish what type of employment or further study graduates are engaged in six months after qualifying from their course, and their income.

RGU scored above average, securing an employability rating in excess of 96%, a 4.5% rise on the typical figure achieved by 128 of the universities surveyed for their class of 2014-15.

Will Ritchie, Careers Consultant Team Leader at RGU’s Career and Employability Centre, says: “Robert Gordon University is consistently ranked highly for graduate prospects, which is a result of our close relationship with industry to ensure our courses are tailored to meet the needs of employers, as well as how we prepare our graduates for the workplace.

“Many of our courses include a work placement to provide students with an opportunity to enhance their learning by gaining essential professional skills while making valuable industry contacts, which often leads directly to graduate job offers.

“Students and graduates also benefit from the services provided by the Careers and Employability Centre, which are available throughout their studies and provide a wide range of support from interactive online resources to careers consultations, workshops and job fairs.

“We’re delighted that our approach to equipping graduates for employment has been recognised in the latest statistics from the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey, cementing our position as a top university in the UK for graduate prospects.”

RGU’s career education offering includes an interactive and comprehensive resource to help students better plan for successful employment. The university provides an informative online careers environment, featuring a series of employability topics such as ‘Writing your CV’ and ‘Preparing for Interviews’ to support students in developing the skills needed to manage the career ladder.
