A leading academic in international business studies from the University of Newcastle has received national recognition for his quality teaching and sustained dedication to improving student learning outcomes.

Associate Professor Brendan Boyle last night received a 2017 Teaching Excellence Award from the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT), for his innovative delivery modes that are helping students confidently complete their studies.

As an Irish expatriate and former international student himself, Associate Professor Boyle has used his own experiences to capitalise on the diversity of thought all students bring to his classroom. …

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education has confirmed the quality of the student experience & academic standard of awards at Robert Gordon University

A team of QAA reviewers visited the university and judged that it has effective arrangements for securing academic standards and enhancing the student learning experience.

The positive review identified a number of examples of good practice. These include:

  • The proactive approach RGU takes to establishing strong relationships with employers and professional, statutory and regulatory bodies for the benefit of students. These relationships complement the curriculum, are recognised and valued by staff and students,

Prateek Konnur, a final year student, enrolled in Griffith’s Masters of Aviation Management program by distance, was recently announced as one of the two winners of this year’s Dr Peter Gardiner Student Grant and invited to participate in the CHC Summit held in Vancouver, Canada. The Summit is annually attended by hundreds of aviation delegates from around the world who collaborate and openly share the foundations of their Safety Management Systems and create a platform for learning and networking. …

BA (Hons) Events Management graduate Jade Woodall has won a top accolade at the UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM)’s 20th Anniversary Graduate Awards.

The Bournemouth University (BU) graduate received the Association for Events Management Education (AEME) Inspirational Graduate Award at the Conference and Hospitality Show at Leeds’ First Direct Arena.

The award, which was open to all events management graduates from all UK Higher Education Institutions, saw Jade praised for being “well engaged within the industry” and “continuing to develop her knowledge and career in events”. …

An Institute of Technology Carlow doctoral research student has won outright the world’s largest agriscience competition – the Alltech Young Scientist Graduate Award 2016 – landing a $10,000 prize and a two-year fully funded postdoctoral contract with global biotechnology company Alltech.

Richard Lally, from Prosperous Co. Kildare who is a doctoral postgraduate student at Institute of Technology Carlow’s EnviroCORE (Bioenvironmental Technologies Centre of Research and Enterprise), today scooped the top award of Alltech Young Scientist Graduate. …
