The course provides students with professional legal skills, including the ability to analyze legal material and understand fundamental legal principles, an understanding of the relationship between law and society, general analytical skills for analyzing and solving non-legal problems, and specialized study into the Australian legal system. During this course at Western Sydney University you will develop skills in advocacy, negotiation, legal drafting and legal research.

Entry Requirements

This Bachelor of Laws LLB course at the Western Sydney University is not available to current HSC school leavers. Applications will be considered from those having successfully completed one year of full time study at a recognized university, or completion of a diploma or advanced diploma at TAFE.

WSU Law students also have the opportunity to participate in the Parramatta Community Justice Clinic (PCJC) and in the Pro Bono Students Australia (PBSA) volunteering program.

Qualification for the award of Bachelor of Laws LLB requires the successful completion of 320 credit points as per the recommended sequence below.

The electives of Year 4 may be chosen from any of the units offered by Western Sydney University, other than units that involve the study of law or the legal system to any substantial extent offered by WSU, provided that the assumed knowledge or prerequisites for the units are satisfied.

Professional Recognition

Professional Recognition in Canada

Graduates from Western Sydney University’s Bachelor of Laws LLB program are eligible to apply to the Legal Profession Admission Board for admission to legal practice in the State of New South Wales in Australia after undertaking prescribed practical legal training.

Graduates of the Western Sydney University’s Bachelor of Laws LLB are eligible to apply for licensing in Canada, however, it is critical students understand the requirements needed to complete this process before licensing will be granted.
