Overview

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a new program at Griffith University starting in the February 2018 intake.  This is a 4 year program where students will undertake biomedical, physical and behavioural science courses as well as physiotherapy academic and clinical courses.  Before graduation, students will be required to demonstrate physiotherapy knowledge and skills required for entry-level clinical physiotherapy practice.

This program provides an innovative, student-centred and employability-focused curriculum with a strong emphasis on client-centred and evidence based-practice as well as experiential and inter-professional learning.

Clinical Work Experience

Placements for this course are to take in place in the final two years of the program.  Every clinical placement will have a different focus, such as physiotherapy within musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neurological, or across the lifespan areas. Clinical placements will also take place in a variety of settings, such as inpatients, outpatients, community centres, or private practice. Regardless of the clinical placement focus or setting, students will be expected to safely and competently assess and treat clients in a holistic and evidence-based manner, drawing on knowledge and skill sets related to core areas of physiotherapy practice.

Entry Requirements

Applicants to Griffith University’s Bachelor of Physiotherapy must have a provincial high school diploma with an average of 90% in their last year of studies or an OSSD with 90% in the best six University (U,4U) and/or University/College (U/C, 4M) courses.

Professional Recognition

Professional Recognition

Program accreditation is currently being sought from the Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC) so that graduates can register with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (PBA) and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and practice physiotherapy within Australia.

Once accreditation has been secured, graduates will be eligible to apply for licensing in Canada, however, it is critical students understand the requirements needed to complete this process before licensing will be granted. KOM Consultants understand the process and requirements needed to enter the teaching profession in Canada. Contact KOM for more information

All students applying directly through KOM Consultants will be supported with the latest information on the accreditation process.
