Overview

Studying the 4-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Griffith will transform your life. You’ll study physiotherapy courses from your first trimester to develop your professional identity.  You’ll study in inter-professional teams with other health students to ensure that you develop teamwork skills so that you are work-ready. You’ll be taught by clinical, research and academic experts using student-centred and active learning approaches.   This program provides an innovative, student-centred and employability-focused curriculum with a strong emphasis on client-centred and evidence based-practice as well as experiential and inter-professional learning.  As a Griffith Physiotherapy graduate, you’ll be well prepared for where the profession is going rather than where it’s been.

Course Structure

Students will undertake biomedical, physical and behavioural science courses as well as physiotherapy academic and clinical courses. You will be studying in small class sizes and using the latest evidence-based teaching techniques such as simulation, you’ll be well prepared for over 20 weeks of hands-on practice work experience.  Students will undertake clinical experiences from Year 1 to Year 4 as part of academic courses. Students will also undertake five week full-time clinical placements as part of five clinical placement courses.

Students must have a provincial high school diploma with an average of 90% in their last year of studies or an OSSD with 90% in the best six University (U,4U) and/or University/College (U/C, 4M) courses.

Professional Recognition

Griffith University’s Bachelor of Physiotherapy program is accredited by the Australian Council of Physiotherapy.  Graduates are eligible for physiotherapy registration in any State or Territory of Australia through the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.  Graduates applying to licensing in Canada will be required to provide details of their program of studies to the relevant bodies and sit a licensing examination.

Students wishing to license as a physiotherapist in Canada should contact the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy for procedures and accreditation procedures. The CAP is the national federation of provincial/territorial regulators in Canada.
