About the Master of Teaching (Primary)

Deakin’s Master of Teaching (Primary) course is fully accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and prepares graduates for employment as a primary teacher in Australia and overseas. The course includes core subjects of the primary curriculum: English, mathematics, science, humanities and social sciences, the arts, technology, health and physical education, and opportunities to develop breadth of knowledge in areas of interest.

Applicants must have completed an appropriate undergraduate degree or approved equivalent carrying 70% GPA.

Professional Recognition in Canada

Deakin University’s Master of Teaching programs are accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as an initial teacher education program against the Australian professional standards for teachers.

Graduates of Deakin’s Master of Teaching are eligible to apply for licensing in Canada, however, it is critical students understand the requirements needed to complete this process before licensing will be granted.
