The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney is the country’s oldest and longest running Dental program. University of Sydney Dental School has been training dental practitioners for more than 100 years, and they are now proud to announce the recent introduction to a 4 year Graduate Entry Dental program through their Dental School.

Graduates of The University of Sydney’s DMD program will be fully qualified to practice dentistry upon completion of the degree, as well as being able to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a dentist (in Canada).

2025 Entry Requirements:

• Applications open Mid April
• Applications close mid June – for 2025 intake closing date 20 June 2024 (Australia time)
• GPA Requirements 
  • Completed undergraduate degree from any area with an equivalent GPA of 2.7 out of 4 from a Canadian or American university (completed within the past 10 years)
  • All years weighted equally
  • Must have completed basic human biology prerequisite (any course involving cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or genetics)
• Admission Tests (DAT, CDAT)
  • Important – for 2025 entry DAT/CDAT results must have been obtained no earlier than February 2022
  • Admissions test results must be submitted with your application and a hard copy mailed to Sydney.  Hard copy must be received by university by 29th July 2024 Australia time
  • DAT/CDAT requirement is minimum score of 15 in each section to be considered for interview (Manual Dexterity Test component of the CDAT is not included)
• Assessments will be based on DAT/CDAT results
  • For equally ranked students, Sydney may implement an interview or situational judgement test to break the tie
  • Competitive DAT/CDAT scores 18+
• First round offers will go out mid/late September 
  • Offers can be released up to January

The University of Sydney’s Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program is fully accredited by the Australian Dental Council.

Graduates from The University of Sydney’s Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program will be fully qualified to practice dentistry upon completion of the degree, as well as being eligible to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a Dentist (in Canada).

In 2010, the Australian Dental Council and the Commission on Dental accreditation of Canada signed a reciprocal agreement which allows accredited graduates of either body to practice Dentistry in Australia or Canada. This means Canadian students returning home with dentistry degrees from accredited Australian Dental Schools can follow the same licensing process as Canadian domestic graduates. Canadian license will be fully granted upon successful completion of the National Exam administered through the Canadian National Dental Examining Board (NDEB)

All Australian Dental Schools offered through KOM Consultants are fully accredited back in Canada.
