Deakin’s School of Medicine was established in response to acute doctor shortages in rural and regional areas of Australia. The distinctive medical program contributes to the health and well being of Australians by producing doctors who are fully qualified, broadly skilled and ready to pursue a career as a specialist or General Practitioner. Deakin’s Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) has a strong science foundation and an emphasis on the early development of clinical and procedural skills. Students seeking admission to this four-year, graduate-entry program must complete an undergraduate degree prior to entry.
Deakin’s flexible courses allow students to choose specialist areas and tailor their degree for maximum employment opportunities. Through Deakin’s strong links with government and industry, internships and work placements are available, ensuring that graduates are job-ready and in demand.
