Adelaide University’s School of Dentistry was established in 1920, and is one of the oldest and most distinguished dental schools in the Australian university sector. Adelaide offers a highly rated 5 year undergraduate entry dental program, the Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
Students entering the Bachelor of Dental surgery at Adelaide University will experience a variety of innovative, high quality and flexible learning approaches, including small groups for collaborative learning, case studies, integrated learning packages and clinical placements at metropolitan, rural and interstate venues.
Adelaide University’s Dental School offer students a leading edge Dental Simulation Clinic providing an opportunity to practise real-world patient care procedures in a technologically integrated environment. Adelaide University’s Dental School is one of the worlds Top Dental schools, and is one of Australia’s only Dental Schools offering PBL (problem based learning) teaching methods. This model of teaching is becoming common place within Medical Programs, both in Canada as well as Australia.
Graduates of Adelaide’s Bachelor of Dental Surgery program will be fully qualified to sit examinations to register as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia, as well as being able to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a dentist (in Canada).

Entry Requirements:
Entry into Adelaide University’s Bachelor of Dental Surgery is extremely competitive. Applicants are ranked on performance in the three components of the admissions process: Interview / UCAT ANZ results / Academic scores (used to separate applicants with equal scored Interview and UCAT).
Adelaide University is working through relevant approvals for program accreditation ahead of students commencing in 2026.
Graduates from Adelaide University’s Bachelor of Dental Surgery program will be fully qualified to practice dentistry upon completion of the degree and Australian licensing examinations, as well as being eligible to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a Dentist (in Canada).
The Australian Dental Council and the Commission on Dental accreditation of Canada have a signed reciprocal agreement which allows accredited graduates of either body to practice dentistry in Australia or Canada. This means Canadian students returning home with dentistry degrees from accredited Australian Dental Schools can follow the same licensing process as Canadian domestic graduates. Canadian license will be fully granted upon successful completion of the National Exam administered through the Canadian National Dental Examining Board (NDEB)
