The Macquarie MD program integrates applied medical sciences with clinical sciences, professionalism, research and cultural responsiveness. The teaching environment is fully integrated with outstanding patient-centered clinical care and active health and medical research. This environment is called MQ Health.
It is designed for students with a high level of achievement in tertiary study, who engage in a variety of experiences and activities; have the interpersonal skills desirable in a medical student and doctor; and the resilience, commitment and desire to help improve the health of Australian and global communities.
MQ Health aims to prepare graduates to be culturally responsive, engaged, globally aware medical professional; have respect and sensitivity toward cultural needs of diverse populations; are aware of the impact of their own culture and values on their medical practice.
International clinical experiences are available.
Entry Requirements
- Completed or in final year of a Bachelor degree in any discipline with minimum weighted GPA of 5 out of 7 (approx 2.7/4 or 70%). For those still studying the degree must be completed by 31 December in year of application
- GPA calculated using weighted system: final year x3 / second to last year x2 / third to last x1
- MCAT Minimum total score of 500 completed within 3 years from intended enrolment date (GAMSAT also accepted)
- The assumed knowledge on entry to the Doctor of Medicine (Macquarie MD) will be in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology
- Personal statement required
- Interview selection based on meeting GPA and MCAT requirements 50:50 with satisfactory personal statement
- Interviews held in rounds, dates TBC (usually June/August/October)

Macquarie University’s Doctor of Medicine is accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and approved by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA).
In Canada, provincial and territorial medical regulatory authorities have the responsibility to confer licences to physicians. The Medical Council of Canada plays an important role in the assessment of potential physicians in Canada. This assessment includes national qualifying examinations and satisfactory completion of acceptable postgraduate training. It is the responsibility of the medical school graduate to contact the provincial body for regulations and requirements.
