Physiotherapy is a science-based healthcare profession where practitioners use their skills to improve and manage a wide range of medical conditions.
In this course, you will study the core areas of physiotherapy and apply these to clinical situations in this hands-on program. Your study will include practice-based learning in a variety of NHS and private settings to give you a diverse experience to prepare for your future career as a physiotherapist. You will also build up valuable experience in supporting long-term condition management programs and a musculoskeletal clinic at the University or in a local clinic.
The course benefits from using state-of-the-art facilities including treatment rooms, rehabilitation space, a hospital ward, a skills laboratory, a biomechanics laboratory, physiology laboratories, a strength and conditioning suite, fitness suite and a simulated ‘home’ environment.
Students will need to have a completed undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 80% / 3.0. Degrees must be in a related field (biological sciences, sport science, or health program) with significant studies in anatomy and physiology. This means 3-4 classes dedicated to human anatomy and human physiology. Experience of the research process is also an essential requirement.
Students must also show they have physiotherapy experience and will have to submit evidence to support this.
Should students meet all the above requirements, they will then be required to attend an interview. For more information on the application process, please contact KOM.
MSc Physiotherapy (Preregistration) program is accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and validated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). On completion of the course you will be eligible to apply for membership of the CSP (Chartered Status) and HCPC Registration, to practice as a Registered Physiotherapist.
