The Primary specialization has been designed to develop skilled, committed and flexible education professionals with the knowledge and pedagogical skills to promote effective and inclusive learning for teaching students from Reception to Year Seven.
The Primary specialization at UniSA includes core Education Studies, Curriculum and Pedagogy and Professional Experience. Professional Experience is the field-based placements that combine theory with practice. Professional Experience requirements must be completed on a full-time basis.
In the Primary specialization, students study Education courses, Children’s Learning and Curriculum Studies courses which examine the developmental, emotional and social psychological needs of learners, and the specific learning areas of the primary school curriculum. Students complete three placements in primary schools from Reception to Year Seven, totalling 60 days.
University of South Australia’s Master of Teaching (Primary) program provides a recognized academic qualification which will enable graduates to apply for teacher registration in South Australia, interstate and some overseas countries.
Graduates of UniSA’s Primary teacher training program are eligible to apply for licensing in Canada, however, it is critical students understand the requirements needed to complete this process before licensing will be granted.
