Griffith’s Master of Primary Teaching is a postgraduate pre-service teacher education program offered in intensive mode to enable completion in one and a half years or over two years full-time. The program provides professional preparation for teaching in primary school (Prep to Year 6) settings. It is designed for graduates from a non-education background wishing to teach in this context.
The program covers the theory and practice of teaching concentrating on the characteristics of learners; the social and educational contexts of education; curriculum studies and professional experience in relevant settings.
The Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) requires a minimum of 60 days of supervised school experience. These days will be split into 3 blocks.
* You will need to successfully complete the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) to graduate from the program. You are permitted two test attempts in total for each component. If you fail two test attempts for each component, you will not be able to graduate.
